Asian American Community and Cultural Center

GMAACC’s vision is to create an Asian American Cultural and Community Center. This center will not only bolster existing programs but also enable the exploration of vital services like wrap-around family support, after-school programs, early childhood education, job training, culturally sensitive mental health assistance, legal services, and more. Residents and community members of all ages came together to envision their dreams for this space, writing and drawing on a participatory public art piece, facilitated by local artists and GMAACC youth. Community members, via drawings, dreamed of a space with access to learning about Asian American history, more dedicated arts and cultural programming, as well as the creation of an important space for community members to meet and gather.

Having the Asian American Community and Cultural Center in Malden would finally give us a home, a place where our experiences and voices are acknowledged. We would finally have the opportunity to stand together, support one another, and build a stronger community.
— Cheuk Leung Kwong, Malden Resident and GMAACC member.

About the space:

GMAACC has already identified a property to house the Asian American Cultural and Community Center: 381 Pearl Street in Malden. The property is 6,300 square feet, which would provide plenty of space for all of our organization’s current and prospective programming.

GMAACC was thrilled to secure $1M in federal earmarks through Congresswoman Katherine Clark’s office, allowing us to submit an offer of $1.34M on the property.

Thank you to the early support of:
